I don’t know. The first problem is “reliable Volkswagen” . The second problem is it has no dogs:
etc...

Has any car company named a car after a doggo? That’d be pretty awesome.
“Reliable Volkswagen” really depends on how you choose to define “reliable.”

I’m not thinking of any dog cars. I guess you can stretch and say Rover or something. And of course you can think of Mack trucks.

The Doge Challenger is the only one I can think of right now:
That’s weird that there aren’t more dog cars. Seems like pretty easy marketing.
Subaru does it:
Though the doggo driving loses good boy points for his incorrect paw placement on the steering wheel.

Reliable Volkswagen? I thought they discontinued that model back in ‘03?

This is by far my favorite of Subaru’s dog commercials:
Anyway, you can’t blame him for holding the steering wheel like that, it’s hard to do better when you don’t have opposable thumbs.

I see your Volkswagen UK 404 page and raise you a Peugeot UK 404 page:

That’s a pretty epic flex. That profile shot did not prepare me for the rest of the car though:
Error 404: passenger space not found.

‘ Reliable as a Volkswagen’ has, as a statement, many different potential interpretations.
My own near on 20 year old example has three reliable points of failure - the brake light switch, the ignition switch and the clutch pedal mount. Every single example of this vehicle will reliably exhibit these failures at some point in their life. On top of a litany of other age and use related ills!!

Was that when VW decided melting interiors made out of crayon adhesives was a good idea? One of my biggest regrets as a car person is not doing my due diligence and listening to the VW fanbois when my friend decided on a 2006 Rabbit a few years ago.

I mean, we had Cerberus for a brief while.
Also, Nissan did this for a minute:

Not sure, but it was definitely when they dropped the Mexican-market Sedan, a vehicle that will keep on running with minimal or no maintenance until approximately 4 years after the Sun turns into a red giant.
